Abstract
Echocardiographic assessment of left ventricular systolic and diastolic functions was performed in 50 patients (children, adolescents, young adults) treated with anthracyclines due to the presence of proliferative diseases. 28 patients received cardioprotective agent - the indices of left ventricularsystolic functions (SF and EF) were assessed, as well as the parameters of left ventricular systolic functions (SF and EF) were assessed, as well as the parameters of left ventricular diastolic functions (E, A, E/A, EACC, EACCT, EDCC, EDCCT, IVRT).
Conclusions: 1. Left ventricular systolic and diastolic dysfunctions of relaxation type are found in patients treated with anthracyclines. 2. Left ventricular dysfuncions intensify along with the increase of cumulative dose of anthracyclines and the prolongation of observation time. 3. Patients treated with anthracyclines and simultaneously subjected to radiotherapy involvingcardiac region are at a higher risk of myocardial damage. 4. The administration of Cardioxan raises hopes for effective myocardial protection against cardiotoxic effect of anthracycline antibiotics. 5. Patients with the history of anthracycline therapy should undergo systematic monitoring of left ventricular function due to the risk of delayed cardiotoxicity.
