Figure 1 Serum uric acid (SUA) levels in atrial fibrillation (AF) group and control group by sex. Compared with controls, SUA levels of patients with AF were significantly higher in men (paroxysmal AF vs permanent AF vs controls: 5.76±1.95 vs 6.26±1.83 vs 5.80±1.46 mg/dL, P<0.05). Compared with controls, SUA levels of AF patients were significantly higher in women (paroxysmal AF vs permanent AF vs controls: 5.23±2.00 vs 5.39±1.79 vs 4.64±1.30 mg/dL, P<0.05).
